If you love Moroccan Nadorcotts, you probably already know when to
expect them: the first week of January, till the week of May.

But did you know there is only one type of Moroccan Nadorcott? Although
they look similar to mandarines and tangerines, Nadorcotts are
sweeter. And why do we even have different kinds of ? It turns out that
oranges can only be in season for a limited amount of time each year. If
growers waited until all the oranges were ripe to harvest them, they’d miss
out on the chance to sell them at other times of the year.

Knowing which kind is which can help you pick the perfect orange for your
needs:

The week of january 1st: This is when “early season” oranges are
harvested. These oranges are less sweet than later-season varieties, but
they’re perfect for using in marinades or drinks where you want citrus
flavor without sweetness overpowering other flavors.

The last week of may: This is when “midseason” oranges arrive at market.
These are sweeter than early-season varieties and great for snacking or
baking with because their sweetness will enhance the other flavors used in
a recipe.
